Another top-100 prospect in the recruiting class of 2023 has Virginia on his final list of five schools after decommitting from Ohio State last month.

George Washington III told On3 that he is considering only five schools: Virginia, Michigan, Wake Forest, Louisville and Dayton (he also held offers from Tennessee, Auburn and Liberty). He hails from Dayton, Ohio (Chaminade Julienne).

The 4-star recruit is a 6-foot-2 combo guard whose consensus rating from the four major recruiting services has Washington as the No. 94 prospect in his class. He originally was recruited by Virginia before he committed to Ohio State, but Washington decommitted after taking his official visit there in August.

He spent part of his Monday evening talking with Virginia coach Tony Bennett on a Zoom conversation.

Washington told On3’s Joe Tipton (see their site for Washington’s breakdown of his final five): “Coach (Tony) Bennett is a Hall of Fame coach. He’s one of the best to do it and they’re a top ACC school.”

UVA has one of the top two recruiting classes in the ACC for ‘23, with big man Blake Buchanan and combo guard Elijah Gertrude.

See the recruiting chart below to track other prospects Bennett and his staff have targeted:
