The Virginia men’s basketball team has moved up to No. 3 in the national AP top 25 poll, jumping from fifth place in last week’s poll.

Previous No. 1 North Carolina lost twice and dropped into the No. 18 spot. Kansas also lost and fell from No. 3 to No. 9. Duke also dropped nine spots to No. 17.

The new No. 1 is Houston, which is scheduled to play at Virginia on Dec. 17. UVA’s next game is against Michigan in apparently the last ACC-Big 10 Challenge.

It has been reported that the annual event is in its final year, as the ACC, SEC and ESPN announced this morning that the ACC/SEC Challenge will begin next season. There will be 14 men’s games and 14 women’s games each year.

The team matchups, locations, dates and tipoff times will be revealed at a later date.
