Chris Pollard and his staff continue to haul in future talent for the Cavaliers with the addition of two recent high school commitments.

Charlottesville’s Will Yow, who plays at St. Anne’s-Belfield, announced that he has committed to the Cavaliers as a member of the 2026 recruiting class. Meanwhile, Nick Mashusko of Moon Township in Pennsylvania announced on his Twitter account Wednesday that he also will be a Cavalier.

Machusko, a 2027 commit, is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound infielder, who according to scouting reports has “immense physicality, a big frame, and who hits with power.”

His exit velocities have been measured above 103 mph, with bat speed up to 83 mph.

Meanwhile, Yow, ranked the No. 79 prospect in the country by one recruiting service, is a 6-1, 175-pound prospect at shortstop/third base.

One scouting service’s report on Yow reads like this:

“Yow might be the fastest player in the entire 2026 class. He’s lightning quick out of the box and has flashed home-to-first times south of 4.05 seconds. Given his age, sub-4.00-second bolts are likely in his future.”

Yow has a short, compact swing. The report noted that while he’s unlikely to develop into a slugger, his swing has enough impact to turn doubles into triples and occasionally lose one over the fence to the pull-side. His speed places enormous pressure on the defense with choppers to the left side of the infield, often wreaking havoc on the opposition.
