UVA moves up to fourth place at Linger Longer Invitational

The Virginia men’s golf team shot 1-under 287 to move up to fourth place at the 16-team Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga.

The Cavaliers’ two-round total is 2-over 578. Charlotte leads the field at 14-under 562.

Senior WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines) continues to lead UVA. He shot even par 72 and is tied for fifth place at 4-under 140. Sophomore Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy) had the best round of Virginia’s scoring players, shooting 1-under 71 to improve to 25th place at 1-over 145.

Senior Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) and sophomore Chris Fosdick (Middlefield, Conn.) are tied for 36th at 3-over 147. Massie posted a second-round score of 72 while Fosdick shot 73. Freshman George Duangmanee (Fairfax, Va.) is in 47th place at 4-over 148. He also shot even par on Saturday.

UVA junior Jack Montague (Manakin-Sabot, Va.), who is competing as an individual, shot his low round as a collegiate, firing 3-under 69. He is in 16th place at even par 144.
