Virginia women’s basketball senior guard Jocelyn Willoughby has been named to the All-ACC First Team in a vote by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the league’s head coaches, as announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Willoughby, who leads the ACC in scoring (19.5 points per game) and ranks 12th in rebounding (7.5 per game), is the 18th player in program history to earn first team honors from the conference and is the first player to do so since 2013 when Ataira Franklin earned the accolade. More recently, Faith Randolph was named to the second team in 2015 and Dominique Toussaint was an honorable mention in 2018.

Willoughby (East Orange, N.J.) was added mid-season to the watch list for the WBCA player of the year honor, the Wade Trophy, as well as being on the initial watch list for the USBWA Ann Myers Drysdale National Player of the Year award. Last month, she earned Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District III honors for the second straight year, the only women’s basketball player to do so. She has nine double-doubles this season and a conference-best 14 20-point games, including a 31-point performance against Bucknell and a 29-point game last week in Blacksburg in the Cavaliers’ victory over the Hokies.

Each of the All-ACC teams is comprised of a 10-player first team and a five-player second team. Both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the coaches also vote on an All-ACC Freshman Team with the coaches determining an All-Defensive team.

The ACC player, coach, freshman and defensive players of the year will be announced on Tuesday morning. The All-ACC Academic Team and the Kay Yow Award, presented to the ACC women’s basketball scholar athlete of the year, will be announced on Wednesday at 10 a.m. by the conference office.
