Virginia’s women’s swimming dynasty gained yet another Olympian late Wednesday evening when the nation’s No. 1 prospect, Katie Grimes, announced her college destination.

The 18-year-old Grimes, a two-time Olympian, posed for a photo on Wednesday in the Nevada desert, standing beside a “Virginia-orange” Corvette and wearing a UVA shirt with a photo caption that read: “Hoos ready.”

If the Cavaliers weren’t already anticipated to capture their fifth straight NCAA championship, Grimes’ addition should solidify those expectations. Virginia had already added Olympian Claire Curzan, also a former No. 1 national recruit, and World Championship medalist Leah Hayes, along with more outstanding prospects.

Take a look at this UVA dynasty, which returns USA Olympians Alex Walsh, Gretchen Walsh and Emma Weber.

Grimes won a Silver medal in the 400 IM in Paris, was 10th in the 1500 free and 15th in the 10km open water competition. She is considered one of the most versatile juniors in American history.
