Fresh off its fifth consecutive win, Virginia’s football team climbed two spots in the Associated Press Top 25 poll today, moving into the No. 16 slot.
The Cavaliers, 6-1, have steadily risen in the poll during their streak, from No. 24 to 19, then 18, to today’s No. 16 position. The No. 16 ranking is Virginia’s highest since Nov. 18, 2007, when Al Groh coached the Wahoos.
UVA won again in dramatic fashion late Saturday night, edging visiting Washington State from the Pac-12, using a late safety for a 22-20 victory. The game was tied at 20-20 until Kam Robinson and Hunter Osborne tackled Cougars running back Kirby Vorhees in the end zone with 2:41 to play.
