Virginia finishes Day 1 at 2021 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships

The Virginia men’s swimming & diving team opened competition at the 2021 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The only event on Wednesday was the 800-yard freestyle relay. The Cavaliers finished 13th in the event to earn eight points and sit in 13th overall. Texas won with California finishing second and Texas A&M third.
Matt Brownstead (Port Matilda, Pa.) led off the relay, followed by Sam Schilling (Excelsior, Minn.), Justin Grender (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Jack Wright (Wexford, Pa.). UVA clocked a time of 6:16.44, the third fastest time in UVA history.
