By Jerry Ratcliffe

uva footballVirginia picked up a major commitment on Thursday night when the Cavaliers landed 4-Star defensive tackle Bryce Carter.

Carter is a 6-foot-2, 240-pound, standout from just down the road in Chester, where he plays at Life Christian Academy. He was named a National Combine All-American defensive MVP and first-team, all-region defensive lineman.

While he is listed in the Class of 2022, Carter intends to reclassify to the Class of 2021 and sign with Virginia during this month’s early signing period, with hopes of enrolling in January.

Carter chose Virginia over Virginia Tech, Florida, Texas A&M, Penn State, Michigan State, Pitt, Wake Forest and NC State.

“I want to thank God and every family member, coach, teammate, and teacher from little league all the way through high school that has helped me on this journey,” Carter tweeted in announcing his commitment on Thursday evening. “I feel blessed to be recruited by all the schools through this process. With that said, I’m committing to UVA.”

More will follow on Chester.
