Virginia football landed another rangy receiver to its Class of 2022 on Monday when 6-foot-5 Sean Wilson announced he would be a Cavalier.

Wilson, a 3-star from Canarsie High in Brooklyn, N.Y., chose Virginia over Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Oregon, Miami and Arizona State.

UVA has been on Wilson for quite some time with wide receivers coach Marques Hagans leading the way. Upon Wilson’s visit, he managed to spend time with Hagans and was impressed by what has developed in the Cavaliers’ passing game.

The fact that Virginia is the only program in the nation with four receivers ranked in the top 65 in receiving yards, coupled with quarterback Brennan Armstrong leading the nation in passing, certainly didn’t hurt. Wilson said he was also impressed by Hagans placing 10 receivers into the NFL during his time as UVA’s receivers coach.

Add Virginia’s academics, campus, and a 90-minute meeting with Bronco Mendenhall, and it helped Wilson quickly decide the program was the best of all that had offered him.

Wilson is a big target at 6-5, 210. He began his high school career at Middle Village, N.Y., Christ the King, then transferred to Brooklyn Canarsie for the 2021 season.
