Virginia men’s lacrosse head coach Lars Tiffany announced the team’s 2020 schedule Friday. The slate features 14 games, including 10 home contests at Klöckner Stadium. Season tickets are now on sale at UVATix.com.
“Formidable obstacles abound in 2020,” Tiffany said. “We are fortunate to have significant challenges on our schedule this spring, with many opponents coming to Charlottesville. Such a demanding slate serves as a fantastic motivator, prompting us to train in the off-season and preseason with greater focus and intensity.”
The 2020 home schedule includes contests against Loyola (Feb. 8), Princeton (Feb. 22), High Point (Feb. 25), Air Force (March 1), Richmond (March 28), Duke (April 9), Utah (April 11), Syracuse (April 18) and VMI (April 28).
The Cavaliers will travel to Brown (March 8), Maryland (March 14), Notre Dame (March 19) and North Carolina (April 2).
The ACC Tournament will move to a new format in 2020 with the No. 1 seed hosting the semifinals (April 24) and finals (April 26).
The broadcast selections for the Virginia men’s lacrosse team will be released and posted to VirginiaSports.com once they are determined by the Atlantic Coast Conference and its television partners. Starting times and dates should be considered tentative and subject to change based on the broadcast selections.
Last season, Virginia won its sixth NCAA Championship and the eighth overall national championship in program history. The Cavaliers finished 17-3 in 2019, also winning the ACC championship and tying the program record for wins in a season (17).
Tiffany enters his fourth season at UVA, returning a stable of talented letterwinners. Highlighting the UVA returners are All-Americans Dox Aitken, Michael Kraus and Matt Moore.
Aitken is a two-time first-team All-American and broke his own single-season scoring record by a UVA midfielder with 52 points. He also broke the single-season UVA record for goals by a midfielder (44), while setting new standards in UVA career midfielder categories for goals (112) and points (143).
Kraus needs three assists to become the fourth Cavalier to reach 100 career goals and 100 career assists.
Moore led the ACC with 43 assists and 89 points as he became UVA’s first 40-goal, 40-assist player in 2019, finishing with 46 goals and 43 assists.
2020 Men’s Lacrosse Ticket Information
A men’s lacrosse reserved season ticket is $45. Reserved seat tickets include the blue chair-back seats and bleacher seats in Section 3 in the grandstand at Klöckner Stadium.
A men’s lacrosse general admission season ticket is $20 and $15 for UVA faculty and staff. General admission seating for men’s lacrosse is available in grandstand sections 1, 2, 4, and 5 and on the grass hillside.
Single-game tickets will go on sale Jan. 17.
Fans may purchase tickets online at UVATix.com or through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for in-person or telephone purchases.
