Virginia offers Florida stretch forward Peck
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Virginia is the latest to jump on the growing bandwagon for 6-foot-10 stretch-forward Cody Peck of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
The Cavaliers have offered Peck, who originally played for Carmel Christian in Matthews, N.C., before transferring in the offseason. Peck is a 4-star with a 7-1 wingspan and has exceptional mobility for a big man.
Peck’s recruiting has exploded as of late, adding offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, St. John’s and Virginia Tech, along with the Cavaliers. Prior to the recent offers, he held offers from Clemson, Wake Forest, SMU, NC State, Georgetown, LSU and Creighton among others.
His stock has soared since his summer play, showing the ability to score on drives to the basket, exceptional dunking ability, and with his perimeter shooting. Peck has defensive skills, particularly around the rim.
At 180 pounds, he needs to build strength. Peck took an unofficial visit to UVA in August and described it as a great trip, as the Cavaliers’ staff showed him how his game would fit their style and how they can help develop his game.
Peck’s father, Michael, played basketball at Marshall.
Peck is the second UVA offer for the recruiting class of 2026. New coach Ron Sanchez made his first offer to Manny Green, a 4-star guard from Cedar Grove, Ga., ranked the No. 52 overall prospect in the nation. Peck is rated the No. 65 prospect in the ‘26 class by On3, the only major recruiting service that presently has him rated.
