On the eve of Wednesday’s National Signing Day, Tony Elliott picked up another in-state recruit in Haymarket offensive lineman Luke Hatfield.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound, 3-star had previously committed to UConn in June, but decommitted prior to Coach Jim Mora Jr. leaving the program to take the Colorado State job. Hatfield had 27 offers, the latest coming from Elliott, who visited Battlefield High School during Virginia’s bye week.

Other schools involved included Army, Navy, Air Force, Memphis, ODU, Temple, Yale, Dartmouth, Harvard and others.

Hatfield, who will sign Wednesday with the Cavaliers, is a two-time, first-team, all-stater and was the Cedar Run District Offensive Player of the Year.

Recruiting guru Tom Lemming said of Hatfield: “He’s the most underrated offensive line prospect in the Mid-Atlantic. He’s a dominant run blocker, can play all three offensive line positions, is a team leader and terrific athlete.”

Hatfield has a 3.7 gpa and benches 335.

JerryRatcliffe.com will have all the Virginia Signing Day news Wednesday afternoon.
