Virginia picks up reserve defensive tackle Davis from South Carolina

Virginia gained more depth for its defensive line on Monday when former South Carolina defensive tackle Devontae Davis reported on his Twitter account that he had transferred to UVA.

Davis (6-foot-4, 300 pounds) is a graduate transfer, a sixth-year “Super Senior,” who came to the Gamecocks after playing at Georgia Military College.

He was a career backup player for South Carolina, having played in a total of nine games — eight of them last season as a redshirt senior. Davis is originally a three-star prospect from Silver Bluff High in Aiken, S.C.

Last season, Davis posted a total of four tackles for the Gamecocks, three of those against Texas A&M.
