Virginia swimming divingVirginia swimmers concluded the seventh day at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials on Saturday night.

August Lamb competed in the men’s 50-meter freestyle semifinals after finishing 15th in prelims with a time of 22.41. Lamb followed that with a 22.27 in the semifinals to finish 14th overall.

Kate Douglass and Gretchen Walsh both made the women’s 50-meter freestyle semifinals, qualifying fifth and seventh, respectively. Douglass was fifth in a time of 24.78 and Walsh posted a 24.88 in prelims.

The pair swam in the second of the two semifinals and finished just .03 seconds apart as both advanced to the final on Sunday. Walsh clocked in with a 24.64 to finish sixth overall and Douglass was seventh in 24.67.

In the prelims, Matt Brownstead tied for 25th in the men’s 50-meter freestyle with a time of 22.65.
