Virginia reels in yet another commitment, Georgia all-state linebacker Weeks
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Another day, another Virginia football commitment. After hauling in five new commits earlier in the week, the Cavaliers added their 11th member of the 2021 recruiting class on Saturday in West Weeks, an inside linebacker from Watkinsville, Ga.
At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Weeks has played all over the field as a two-year starter, lining up at outside linebacker, safety, tight end, wide receiver, even returning punts and kickoffs. Virginia offered Weeks as an inside linebacker.
The 3-star prospect had offers from nearly 20 FBS programs, but his choice came down to Virginia over Louisville, the Cavaliers’ cross-over rival from the Atlantic Division of the ACC. West also had offers from Minnesota, Kentucky, Washington State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Boston College, Colorado, Duke and Vanderbilt.
He actually decided on Virginia a week ago but held off on his announcement with the blessing of his father, David, who played football for the Georgia Bulldogs from 1991-95.

West posted more than 800 yards of total offense and five touchdowns as a junior, while leading Oconee County to a 13-2 season in 2019. Oconee was runner-up in the state’s Class 4A championship. West also had 112 tackles (seven for loss) and two interceptions on the other side of the ball, resulting in a first-team, all-state selection in 4A ball. Check out his highlights from last season:
