Virginia volleyball head coach Shannon Wells announced the addition of defensive specialist/libero Meredith Reeg on Wednesday. Reeg joins Lauryn Bowie and Nala Cornegy as a member of the Cavaliers’ 2023 signing class and is set to enroll at UVA this fall.

“Meredith is a great addition to our 2023 class,” said Wells. “She is a high-level competitor who plays with passion. Her picture is found in the dictionary next to the term ‘gym rat’. She will not be out-competed, out-energized, or out-worked. Meredith is going to raise the level competition in our gym the minute she steps on Grounds this summer.”

Reeg (Raleigh, N.C.) is currently a senior at Cardinal Gibbons High School, where she was named a first team all-state honoree and team MVP this past season. In 2021, she led the Crusaders to 4A North Carolina state championship. Reeg has played on the club circuit for North Carolina Volleyball Academy for the last seven seasons. In 2022, she was named both an AVCA All-American Watch List selection as well as a JVA Watch List honoree.

Reeg is the daughter of Brenda and Scot Reeg. She has two sisters, Haley and Ali, and one brother, Logan. Her sister, Haley, played volleyball at Meredith College from 2015-19.
