I have this theory about Virginia’s basketball team, which plays Miami in tonight’s semifinals round of the ACC Tournament in Charlotte’s Spectrum Center (7 p.m., ESPN2).
My theory is that the Cavaliers will go as deep into the ACC Tournament and as deep into next week’s NCAA Tournament, as the 3-point shot will take them. When UVA’s gunners are connecting at a proficient rate from the 3-point arc, they’re almost unbeatable.
Take Thursday’s win over NC State for example. Every time the Wolfpack threatened to close the distance, the Cavaliers seemed to answer with a triple. Sam Lewis, Jacari White, Malik Thomas and others joined the 3-point party.
