Virginia’s recruiters were busy on Monday, first offering West Coast power forward Jacob Cofie, then reaching out to another power forward in Texas with an offer.

David Punch, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound 3-star from Harker Heights HS in Harker Heights, Texas, confirmed on his Twitter account that after a conversation with Virginia associate head coach Jason Williford, he had received an offer from the Cavaliers.

Punch holds offers from Virginia Tech, VCU (both offered on Sunday), Penn State, Xavier, TCU, Oral Roberts, North Texas, San Francisco, UTSA, UT-Arlington, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Colorado State, Arkansas State, Fairfield and Louisiana Tech.

247Sports rates Punch as the No. 88 overall player in the recruiting class of 2024, the No. 39 power forward in the country and the No. 9 prospect in Texas. On3 rated him the No. 51 power forward in the nation and the No. 13 player in Texas.

A player with long arms and big hands, he can score around and above the rim. He plays through contact, can shoot the 3, and can face-up and attack the rim with a repertoire of moves.

In the Texas Class 6A playoffs, Punch put up 30 points and 17 rebounds, 4 blocked shots, 2 steals, 3 dunks and was diving on the floor for loose balls. He scored 30 of his team’s 59 points on an 8-of-9 shooting performance.

Punch came on strong during the EYBL Circuit season and is rapidly improving.
