The fourth-seeded Virginia women’s lacrosse team will begin play at the 2023 ACC Tournament facing five-seed Notre Dame on Wednesday in the quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m. at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.

ACC TOURNAMENT HISTORY

  • UVA is 22-20 all-time in the ACC Tournament and is 8-6 in the first round/quarterfinals.
  • Virginia advanced to the ACC semifinals in 2022 after an 18-14 win to knock off 3-seed Syracuse in the quarterfinals.
  • This will be the third time UVA and Notre Dame have met in the ACC Tournament, with the Irish owning a 2-0 record in those games.
  • In both previous meetings. Virginia was the No. 4 seed and Notre Dame the No. 5 seed. Both games were decided by one goal, with ND winning 7-6 in 2015 and 11-10 in 2019.

AGAINST NOTRE DAME

  • Virginia (11-5) and Notre Dame (12-4) are meeting for the 13th time in the series and second time this season.
  • The Cavaliers won the regular season meeting between the two teams, 16-13, on March 25.
  • Senior Jaime Biskup and sophomore Rachel Clark led UVA with five goals apiece.
  • UVA dominated the second period, 8-1, to take an 11-4 lead into the half and out-drew the Irish 10-0.
  • Clark and Biskup both scored two goals in the fourth quarter to keep UVA’s lead.

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Cavaliers closed out the regular season with a 15-10 win over Virginia Tech.
  • Clark scored five goals and added two assists to lead UVA in the win.
  • The win gave Virginia its sixth ACC win of the season, marking the most for a UVA team in program history.

UP NEXT

The winner of Wednesday’s quarterfinal will advance to the ACC Semifinals to face the winner of 1-seed Boston College and 9-seed Duke on Friday at 1 p.m.
