Women’s Tennis: No. 12 UVA sweeps Marshall, Longwood to move to 4-0

The No. 12 Virginia women’s tennis team logged two victories on Saturday at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. Virginia (4-0) downed Marshall 7-0 in the first match of the day before topping Longwood 7-0 in the finale.

In the day’s first match, the Cavaliers won all six singles matches in straight sets. Junior Elaine Chervinsky had the most dominant performance of the day, winning 6-0, 6-0 against Aisling McGrane on court five.

Chervinsky continued her dominance in the second match of the day as the Cavaliers once again claimed six singles victories in straight sets. This time playing on court two, Chervinsky took down Oriana Izarra 6-0, 6-1. Sara Ziodato won 6-1, 6-1 against Feline van Eijkelenburg on court one.

 UP NEXT

The Cavaliers will be hosting ITA Kickoff Weekend matches on Friday and Saturday. Texas Tech, No. 20 Georgia Tech and No. 25 Wisconsin will play in the Charlottesville Regional with one spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on the line. Virginia hosts Texas Tech on Friday at noon, with the Yellow Jackets and Badgers playing at 3 p.m. The two winners face off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
