Wrestling: Virginia adds Penn graduate transfer Antrassian

Neil Antrassian has joined the Virginia wrestling program as a graduate transfer, it was announced by head coach Steve Garland on Thursday.

Antrassian joins the Cavaliers after a four-year career at Penn and is coming off a season that saw him earn All-Ivy honorable mention honors at 184 pounds. He went 16-11 on the season with a 7-2 mark in duals through his nine starts.

Antrassian took a fifth-place finish at the EIWA Championships and was named an alternate to the 2022 NCAA Wrestling Championships.

The Ivy league did not compete in the 2020-21 season, but prior to that Antrassian wrestled at 174 pounds for the Quakers. He took a seventh-place finish at the 2020 EIWA Championships that season.

A native of Temperance, Mich., he was a four-year letterwinner at Temperance Bedford High School and amassed 184 wins for his high school career and served as team captain. Antrassian was a Michigan state placewinner as a senior. He was a 2017 Michigan state champion in freestyle. He was also an Academic All-State selection and a team MVP at Temperance Bedford.
