Seven Cavaliers named VaSID Wrestling All-State selections

Seven members of the Virginia wrestling team were named All-State selections by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).
The selections included a pair of first team selections in Jay Aiello (Chantilly, Va.) and Justin McCoy (New Paris, Pa.).
Aiello was a first-team selection at 197 pounds, while McCoy was a first-team selection at 157 pounds. Both wrestlers earned runner-up finishes at the ACC Championships and qualified for the NCAA Championships while being ranked all season.
Virginia had five wrestlers named to the second team, including Louie Hayes (Orland Park, Ill.) at 133 pounds, Brian Courtney (Athens, Pa.) at 141 pounds, Jake Keating (Naperville, Ill.) at 165 pounds, Vic Marcelli (Massillon, Ohio) at 174 pounds and Quinn Miller (Lilburn, Ga.) at heavyweight.
Hayes earned All-America honors and placed eighth at the NCAA Championships, while Keating posted a runner-up finish at the ACC Championships and Miller turned in a third-place finish at the ACC Championships. All five members of the second team also qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Each team is comprised of one wrestler at each of the 10 weight classes regardless of division of competition and a total of two teams are selected.
As a whole, VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
