Virginia men’s tennis sophomore Chris Rodesch was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week and senior Ryan Goetz and sophomore Iñaki Montes were named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week.

Rodesch led No. 11 Virginia to sole possession of first place in the ACC standings with a pair of victories this weekend, including a 4-1 win against No. 8 Wake Forest. Rodesch won both of his matches on the top court in straight sets, including a 6-2, 6-4 victory over NC State’s Robin Catry on Friday and a 6-4, 6-4 win over No. 34 Eduardo Nava of Wake Forest on Sunday.

Montes and Goetz helped the Cavaliers win the doubles point in both matches. The unranked duo topped two ranked doubles teams, including a 6-3 win over No. 19 Luca Staeheli and Catry of NC State. They also secured a 6-4 win over No. 74 Nava and Matthew Thomson of Wake Forest.

This is Rodesch’s second ACC Player of the Week honor this season. This is the first ACC Doubles Team of the Week honor for Montes and Goetz as a pairing. Goetz previously earned the honor with Rodesch earlier this month.
