Former UVA star linebacker Clint Sintim, now the Cavaliers’ linebackers coach, built a strong relationship with one of the state’s top prospects over the past five months and that paid huge dividends on Friday afternoon.

Kamren Robinson, the No. 8 overall prospect in the state, announced on his Instagram account that he had committed to Virginia. The 3-star from Essex High School in Tappahannock is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker.

Robinson chose UVA over Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Penn State, Florida State, Pitt, Ole Miss, Boston College, Indiana, South Carolina and others.

Virginia offered Robinson on Feb. 2 and he visited Charlottesville on June 17 during Tony Elliott’s football camps. He had already taken a liking to Sintim, who will be his position coach at UVA.

Robinson is the fifth in-state player to commit to Virginia for the Class of 2023.
