UVA searching for future PG, makes offer to Trey Green
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Tony Bennett has been searching for Virginia’s future point guard, and on Monday extended an offer to Trey Green, a 4-star prospect from the Charlotte, N.C. area.
Green, who led his team to the Peach Jam championship last weekend, is a 5-10/5-11 (depending on which recruiting service) standout, who plays for Link Academy in Branson, Missouri. Link plays a high-level national schedule.
The point guard said his top seven schools are: Virginia, Virginia Tech, LSU, VCU, Clemson, Xavier and Cincinnati. He also said that UVA, Tech, Cincy, Xavier and Clemson are recruiting him the hardest.
Green has visits planned to Virginia Tech, Xavier and LSU at this point. UVA’s offer came Monday, so it is likely he will visit Charlottesville as well.
Ranked the No. 14 point guard in the country by 247Sports, Rivals ranked him No. 25 and On3 has Green rated No. 12.
A member of the recruiting Class of 2023, Green said he will decide in mid to late September.
Green said of Virginia: “I really like how they talk to me. They’re talking real good, saying I’m a good fit for them. I love the ACC. I love how they produce small guards and I love their play style.”
