UVA on point guard Green’s final five; he’ll announce on Aug. 6

Four-star point guard Trey Green said Sunday night that he will announce his college choice on Aug. 6 and that he has narrowed his schools to five: Virginia, VCU, LSU, Miami and Xavier.
Green eliminated Virginia Tech, Clemson, Boston College, Cincinnati, Nebraska and others.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Green plays for Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, which plays a national schedule. He is rated the No. 12 point guard in the country by On3, No. 14 by 247Sports.
The Class of 2023 standout recently did stand out at the Peach Jam event, where he averaged 16 points, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game. UVA assistant coach Orlando Vandross has been recruiting Green hard.
