6-foot-7 Caleb Williams officially visits Virginia, gets an offer
By Jerry Ratcliffe
The newest prospect from the recruiting Class of 2024 to receive a Virginia basketball offer is Caleb Williams.
A 6-foot-7 small forward from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., Williams hasn’t been rated by the various national recruiting services as of yet, but he’s been rated by Tony Bennett & Company, and they’ve rated him as being Cavalier-worthy.
Williams visited Virginia on Thursday and posed in Wahoo gear on his social media posts, where he announced he had received an offer from UVA.
He has also been offered by Michigan, Villanova, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Maryland and Penn State.
“The whole recruiting situation, I’ve just been embracing the moment,” Williams told Alex Bozich of Inside the Hall, a publication that covers Indiana basketball. “I watched my older two brothers go through it, so just for it to finally be my turn, it’s a dream come true.”

Williams’ summer has seen his recruiting explode, but he’s handled it well.
“I think this year for me, it was establishing myself as one of the better players in the D.C. area, if not the country,” Williams said. “My school season got canceled and the ending of AAU for the two-week Peach Jam, I got injured right before, so I didn’t really get a chance to play in front of coaches. I think they’re just seeing me now for the first time and I feel like I’ve been performing well to allow them to believe in me.”
On his Twitter account, Williams lists himself as a 6-7 guard, not forward.
“I’m a versatile guard/wing with improving ball-handling to be labeled more as a guard/wing instead of a wing/forward,” he said. “I’m versatile. I can score the ball. I can make plays for others. I rebound, take charges and do the little things and I feel like I can defend each position at a pretty good level (no wonder Bennett likes this guy). I think those are the things that help me separate myself.”
Oh, and his brothers who went through the recruiting process, one went to Penn and is transferring to Howard, while the other is at Gettysburg.
