Wahoo Preview: No. 13 Virginia at Florida State
The 13th-ranked Virginia men’s basketball team looks for its first conference sweep of the season against Florida State Saturday in Tallahassee (4 p.m., ESPN2), after holding on for a five-point home win in early December.
The Cavaliers (12-3, 4-2 ACC) have strung together two in a row, downing both Syracuse and North Carolina at John Paul Jones Arena last week.
All five of the Seminoles’ (5-12, 3-3) wins have come on their home floor, and they’ll have a new face in the lineup the second time around against the Wahoos.
FSU freshman 7-footer Baba Miller made his long-awaited collegiate debut earlier this week at Wake Forest after serving a 16-game suspension for unknowingly accepting travel benefits.
Darin Green Jr. (14.0 ppg) and Matthew Cleveland (14.7 ppg) both rank inside the top 20 on the ACC scoring list. The Seminoles have prevailed over the Wahoos in four of the last six meetings.
UVA fifth-year point guard Kihei Clark sits 57 assists shy of passing John Crotty’s school-record career total of 683. Clark needs 51 more points to become just the 28th player in Cavalier history to amass the 1,300-point plateau.
