Men’s Golf: No. 12 Cavaliers open spring schedule in Puerto Rico Sunday

The No. 12 Virginia men’s golf team opens its spring schedule this weekend at the Dorado Beach Collegiate at the TPC Dorado Sugarcane Course in Dorado, Puerto Rico. The 14-team field will compete Feb. 26-28. An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start will be used each round. The event is hosted by UNCG.
Virginia will be paired with Augusta, Ball State and Cincinnati during Sunday’s opening round.
The 14-team field includes (Golfstat ranking): Army, Auburn (2), Augusta, Ball State, Boston College, Cincinnati (39), Drexel, Duke (31), Kennesaw State, Old Dominion, Rutgers, Virginia (12), UNCG and West Virginia.
Virginia will field a lineup that include Pietro Bovari, Ben James, Deven Patel, George Duangmanee and Bryan Lee. Jack Montague will compete as an individual.
James currently leads UVA with a 69.33 stroke average. He had a pair of first-place finishes during the fall and is ranked No. 12 by Golfstat and No. 5 by Golfweek entering the tournament.
