The No. 19 Virginia women’s golf dropped a pair of matches Monday at NC State’s Wolfpack Match Play event in Raleigh, N.C. The third-seeded Cavaliers fell 3-2 to sixth-seeded North Carolina and 3-1-1 to second-seed Florida State. UVA is competing without Amanda Sambach and Jennifer Cleary, who competed late last week at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. That duo leads the team in stroke average this season.

Against UNC, Rebecca Skoler and Maline Kraus picked up wins. Skoler downed the Tar Heels’ Riley Quartermain 5&4 while Kraus picked up a 2&1 win against Krista Junkkari. Megan Propeck lost 1Down while Riley Smyth and Celeste Valinho both fell by 3&2 margins.

During the afternoon match against the Seminoles, Virginia Bossi defeated Katherine Cook 3&2 in UVA’s lone win. It was Bossi’s first action this year after recovering from injuries. Skoler tied her match while Valino lost 3&1, Propeck fell 3&2 and Smyth lost 4&3.

Virginia will face Louisville on Tuesday during its final match. Play is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. with live scoring online at Golfstat.com.
