Virginia lands graduate transfer Jordan Minor from portal
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Jordan Minor, who was blown away by his visit to Virginia last week, announced Thursday afternoon that he has committed to the Cavaliers’ basketball program.
Minor, ranked as the No. 24 overall available player remaining in the transfer portal, will join UVA as a graduate transfer from Merrimack. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward was the NEC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2022-23.
He chose Virginia over Florida Gulf Coast, Iowa, Seton Hall and Georgia Tech.
Minor visited UVA last week and while he wanted to commit immediately after, decided to fly to Florida Gulf Coast for an official visit the following day. As soon as he returned home, he canceled visits to Iowa and Seton Hall.
“When I get to UVA, my athleticism and being able to defend is something I’m going to have to show and do,” Minor told Dushawn London of 247Sports. “They’ll look to use me to score, get the offense going and be able to play the four or the five in small ball lineups. They see things that i’m strong at, but they also believe in me to hone in on my weaknesses and improve my game.”

Minor was also impressed with how Virginia has developed players and sent them on to the next level.
At Merrimack, he averaged 17.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.6 blocked shots per game while shooting 51.5 percent from the field.
