Women’s Lacrosse: UVA’s McGovern, Meyer to compete in IWLCA Senior All-Star game

Graduate students Ashlyn McGovern and Annika Meyer of the Virginia women’s lacrosse team were selected to compete in the 2023 IWLCA Division I Senior All-Star game that will be held on Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md., on Saturday.
The Division I teams will cap off the event with their game at 2:30 pm. Admission for all games is free of charge. The games will not be streamed this year.
McGovern and Meyer were both picked to compete with the South Team, coached by Howard’s Karen Healy-Silcott.
McGovern closed out her UVA career with 204 career goals, ranking third all-time in UVA history. She was second on the team with 61 goals, finishing just behind Clark. She is third in the ACC with 3.47 goals per game and fifth in total goals. McGovern scored multiple goals in 16 of the 18 games and had hat tricks in 13 of those games. She scored at least one goal in all but one game during the 2023 season.
Meyer started every game for the Cavaliers on defense. She was second on the team with 23 ground balls and tied for third with 12 caused turnovers on the season. Meyer tallied multiple ground balls in six games, including a career-best four in UVA’s win at Pitt. She had a season-best two caused turnovers in two games.
