Ty Jerome traded to Oklahoma City
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Former Virginia guard Ty Jerome has been traded by the Phoenix Suns to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Jerome, a first-round pick in the NBA Draft last year, is part of a deal that sends Oklahoma City star point guard Chris Paul to Phoenix for four players and a 2022 first-round draft pick. Second-year guards Jerome and Jalen Lecque, along with point guard Ricky Rubio and wing Kelly Oubre were sent to the Thunder.
The 23-year-old Jerome, who starred on Virginia’s 2019 national championship team, will have less competition for playing time at Oklahoma City. He didn’t get a lot of time with the Suns his rookie year due to so many guards on the roster and injuries.
Jerome was originally drafted by the Boston Celtics and promptly traded to Phoenix.
