Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong wasn’t totally pleased with his performance last Saturday night in the Cavaliers’ lopsided win over William & Mary, but his numbers certainly impressed the panel of voters for ACC Player of the Week honors.

Armstrong threw for 339 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for two more scores, which garnered him ACC Co-Quarterback of the Week.

His 339 yards was the most ever in a season opener by a UVA quarterback and was the highest by any ACC quarterback last week. Responsible for 24 points, seventh most in the nation. He also ranks 18th in the country in passing efficiency (180.89).

“I think in the first half I was trying to push the tempo,” Armstrong said about the Cavaliers sluggish start on offense. “I was just moving a little too fast. I wasn’t pleased with what happened in the first half, so I just started to slow things down.”

When he did, UVA’s offense took off. Armstrong was proud of the fact that the Cavaliers had no turnovers.

UVA hosts Illinois on Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. kickoff (ACC Network).
