Ryan Odom’s right-hand man, associate head coach Griff Aldrich, has been hired by Pepperdine to run its basketball program.
Aldrich has built a reputation as a program builder, having had success at Longwood, where he took the Lancers to two NCAA Tournaments, in addition to his contribution to this year’s Virginia team, which won 30 games in Odom’s first year.
According to Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, Pepperdine chose Aldrich over Notre Dame assistant coach Kyle Getter (a former UVA assistant under Tony Bennett), and Justin Downer, head coach at Point Loma.
