Virginia women’s basketball will host Missouri on Thursday, Nov. 30 in the first annual ACC/SEC Women’s Basketball Challenge, as announced Wednesday by ESPN.

The Challenge takes place over two days, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 29, with five matchups as Atlantic Coast Conference schools Georgia Tech and NC State host Southeastern Conference programs and Notre Dame, Miami and Louisville travel to SEC sites. The following night (Thursday, Nov. 30) features the remaining nine games of the Challenge as Virginia, Syracuse, North Carolina, Florida State and Wake Forest serve as the ACC host schools and Duke, Boston College, Virginia Tech and Clemson play at SEC sites.

The creation of the ACC/SEC Challenge marks the end of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, which ESPN established with the two conferences in 1999 for men’s basketball as a first-of-its-kind event and expanded to include women’s match-ups ever since 2007. SEC women’s basketball conducted a challenge with the Big 12 from 2014 to 2021.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Cavaliers and the Tigers. Missouri went 18-14 last season with a 6-10 mark in conference play, advancing to the second round of the WNIT.

Both men’s and women’s Challenge events will feature games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network and SEC Network. Coverage details, including platform designations and commentator information, will be announced in the Fall.
