While most of the local amateur golf tournaments have disappeared from the competition schedule, the Charlottesville City Championship is back.

The pandemic wiped out many of the local golfing events, which struggled to put together complete fields last year. The City hopes to buck that trend this weekend.

Meadowcreek Golf Course, longtime home of the city tournament, will again host the event, a 36-hole, medal-play competition, beginning Saturday morning at 8 a.m., finishing up Sunday (also starting at 8 a.m.).

The tournament offers VSGA points to competitors for the first time in the event’s history.

There will be a regular division, a senior division (men 50 and over) and a super-senior division (men 65 and over). Pairing requests can be made for Round 1 within your division. Practice rounds can be played during the week leading up to the tournament.

For more information or to sign up, golfers can register online at: www.meadowcreekgolf.org/outings-events or at the Meadowcreek Golf Shop.
