Freshman Emma Weyant was named ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after winning all three individual events in Virginia’s dual meet win over No. 5 Texas this past weekend.

The Sarasota, Fla. native picked up wins in the 400-yard IM and 1000-yard freestyle on Friday night and the 500-yard freestyle on Saturday to help propel Virginia to its 201-152 win over the Longhorns.

It was the Olympians first home meet as a Cavalier. She opened the meet with an AFC pool record swim of 4:05.68 to win the 400 IM. The time bested UVA’s previous pool record by nearly six seconds. It is also the fastest time in the NCAA so far this season by two seconds.

Weyant followed that performance with a win in the 1000-yard freestyle later in Friday’s session. She won the event by five seconds with a time of 9:42.71, the second-fastest time in the nation this season.

On Saturday, Weyant completed her event sweep with a win the 500-yard freestyle. Her time of 4:46.11 is the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA.

Virginia returns to action Nov. 18-20 at the Tennessee Invitational.
