Virginia grad student midfielder Adele Iacobucci has been named to the 2023 All-ACC Field Hockey First Team, in honors announced on Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Junior midfielder Noa Boterman, junior goalkeeper Tyler Kennedy, junior striker Taryn Tkachuk, sophomore midfielder Daniela Mendez-Trendler and sophomore back Madison Orsi were named to the second team.

Iacobucci scored the game-winning goal in the double-overtime victory at Syracuse as well as netting the game-winner at Miami. She was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week after making a game-saving defensive save in the first overtime at Duke. She is a three-time NFHCA All-South Region first-team member, but this is her first time being named to the All-ACC first team. She was named to the All-ACC second team last season.

Mendez-Trendler leads the team with 21 points on seven goals and seven assists. This is her second-straight All-ACC honor after being named to the first team last season. Mendez-Trendler was a third-team All-American last season and an NFHCA All-South Region first-team honoree.

Tkachuk has a team-best eight goals this season. The two-time ACC Offensive Player of the Week contributed seven points in the two-game road trip at Wake Forest and Duke. She scored the game-winning goal in the win against North Carolina after also assisting on the first goal. This is her first postseason honor.

Boterman has tallied six goals and an assist this season. She converted a penalty stroke at Saint Joseph’s for the game-winning goal and also had the game-winner at Wake Forest. Her goal against UNC began the rally that led to UVA’s 3-2 come-from-behind victory. Additionally, she has proven to be a key asset on corner defense with three defensive saves, tying for the conference lead. This is her first postseason honor.

Orsi has started all 16 games for the Cavaliers this season, anchoring a defensive back line that has tallied four shutouts. Orsi and her fellow defenders have also kept three teams from taking a shot on goal this season. She had her first career defensive save in the double-overtime road win at Duke. She has also assisted on two goals this season. This is her first postseason honor.

Kennedy was named both the NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week and the ACC Defensive Player of the Week after making a combined eight saves against William & Mary and Harvard. She made a then-season high seven saves against Boston College and then matched the number in the victory at Syracuse. She is averaging 3.31 saves per game and has a .716 save percentage this season. This is her first postseason honor.
