Former Wahoos Benkert and Kiser re-signed to Packers, Rams practice squads

Two former UVA players who were released by their NFL teams in order to meet the 53-player roster limit on Tuesday were re-signed to practice squads on Wednesday.

Kurt Benkert, who won the No. 3 spot at quarterback on the Green Bay Packers roster, was put on waivers Tuesday, but was re-signed by the Packers on Wednesday and immediately placed on the team’s practice squad.

Meanwhile, former Virginia linebacker Micah Kiser, was re-signed by the LA Rams on Wednesday and assigned to the team’s practice squad. Kiser played for the Rams last year after missing the 2019 season with injuries.
