uva cross country track and fieldSenior Brenton Foster set a Virginia record at the Virginia Tech Challenge at Rector Field House on Saturday.

Foster cleared a height of 2.26m (7’5”) to win the high jump and set a UVA record in the event. He surpassed the prior UVA record mark of 2.21m (7’3”) that he shared with Herman Moore on his second attempt at a height of 2.22m (7’3.25”). He recorded his career-best jump of 2.26m (7’5”) two jumps later. Foster’s mark ranks fourth in the NCAA and is the top jump this season by an ACC athlete.

“Brenton really jumped well this weekend and put himself in the national conversation,” director of track & field and cross country/associate athletics director of administration Vin Lananna said.

The Cavaliers will return to action for the ACC Championships on Feb. 27. The three-day conference championship will begin held in Notre Dame, Ind.
