Men’s Golf: No. 10 Virginia finishes fourth at Watersound Invitational

The No. 10 Virginia men’s golf team shot 3-under 285 during the final round of the Watersound Invitational to place fourth in the 12-team field in Panama City Beach, Fla. UVA completed the tournament at 15-under 849. Third-ranked Vanderbilt took the team title at 29-under 835.
UVA was led by sophomore All-American Ben James who placed 12th at 5-under 211. He posted a final-round score of 1-under 71. Deven Patel was 18th at 3-under 213 after shooting even par 72 on the final day of play.
Bryan Lee posted UVA’s best finishing score, shooting 3-under 69 to move up to a tie with teammate George Duangmanee for 22nd place at 1-under 215. Duangmanee shot 74 on Wednesday. Josh Duangmanee rounded out the Cavaliers’ scoring with a 31st place finish. He shot even par 216 including a 1-over 73 on the final day. Chris Fosdick, competing as an individual, was 58th at 224.
Virginia was one of nine teams in the field ranked in the top-50 of the current NCAA golf rankings.
UVA is off until March 9 when the Cavaliers return to Florida for the John Hayt Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra.
