Women’s Golf: Skoler posts runner-up finish as Hoos complete competition at The Show

Senior Rebecca Skoler posted a final-round score of 4-under 68 to tie for second place to lead Virginia at The Show tournament in Las Vegas. Skoler finished the 54-hole event at 4-under 212 to post her highest finish as a collegiate.

Skoler’s final-round score was the best during Tuesday’s play and matched the lowest round for the event. It marked the second top-10 performance during her UVA career.

Skoler’s score helped No. 24 Virginia to a third-place finish in the 13-team field. UVA shot even par 288 during the final round for a final tally of 7-over 871. UCLA and SMU tied for first place at 6-under 858.

Megan Propeck was the Cavaliers’ next best finisher, placing 17th at 3-over 219. Propeck posted a found-round effort at even par 72. Amanda Sambach moved up to 19th place at 4-over 220 thanks to a final round score of 1-under 71.

Jacalyn LaHa was 27th at 7-over 220 and Celeste Valinho was 52nd at 229 to round out the UVA scoring. LaHa shot 77 on Tuesday while Valinho carded an 80 during her final round. Jennifer Cleary, competing as an individual, was 49th at 228. She posted a final-round score of 75.

The Cavaliers are off until the end of the month when they compete at Georgia’s Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on March 29 & 30.
