Nine Virginia men’s lacrosse players have been named All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) following a vote its All-American committee, the organization announced on Thursday. The Cavaliers’ nine selections led all Division-I programs nationally. Additionally, UVA’s Thomas McConvey was the recipient of the Lt. Donald MacLaughlin Jr. Award, which is bestowed annually to the nation’s top midfielder.

McConvey is the seventh player in UVA history to garner the honor and second under the tutelage of head coach Lars Tiffany. Former Virginia long-stick midfielder Jared Conners was the previous recipient of the award in 2019.

In addition to McConvey, attackman Connor Shellenberger and defenseman Cade Saustad were named first team All-Americans. With Thursday’s announcement, Shellenberger became the program’s second three-time first team All-American, joining former UVA defenseman Ken Clausen (2008-09-10).

Attackman Xander Dickson and faceoff specialist Petey LaSalla were named second and third-team selections, respectively. Payton Cormier, Cole Kastner, Grayson Sallade and Evan Zinn rounded out the list for the Cavaliers as honorable mentions.

No. 2 seed Virginia (13-3) faces No. 3 seed Notre Dame (12-2) in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals on Saturday. Opening faceoff from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is set for 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
