The No. 4 Virginia men’s tennis team notched a 4-1 victory over No. 17 Notre Dame on Friday at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

Freshman Andres Santamarta Roig and sophomore Jangjun Kim got the Cavaliers off to a hot start with a 6-0 win on the third doubles court. Sophomores Keegan Rice and Stiles Brockett then clinched the point with 7-5 victory on two.

No. 14 Rice gave Virginia (18-3, 10-1 ACC) its second point following his 6-3, 6-4 singles win on court two. Notre Dame (19-5, 8-3) got on the board with a win on four, but the Cavaliers responded with senior Douglas Yaffa taking court six 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 to put Virginia up 3-1. No. 2 Dylan Dietrich secured the match victory with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 win on the top court.
