The No. 2 Virginia men’s tennis team closed its home stint with a 4-2 win over No. 65 North Carolina on Sunday at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort. The Hoos remain undefeated at home this season, boasting an 8-0 record at the Boar’s Head.

The Tar Heels began the action with a win on doubles court three. Virginia (14-2, 6-0 ACC) responded with a 6-4 win from No. 37 Måns Dahlberg and Jangjun Kim on two, but North Carolina edged out a 6-4 victory on the top court to clinch the doubles point.

UNC (9-7, 2-4) grew its lead to 2-0 with a singles win on court six, but from that point on it was all Cavaliers. Dahlberg got Virginia on the board with his 6-2, 6-2 win on five, then No. 1 Dylan Dietrich tied it up with his 6-4, 6-2 win on the top court. No. 14 Keegan Rice put the Hoos on top with a 6-2, 6-4 win on two before No. 28 Andres Santamarta Roig sealed the Virginia victory with his 6-4, 6-3 win on three.

UP NEXT

The Cavaliers head to North Carolina next weekend, taking on NC State on Friday in Raleigh and Wake Forest on Sunday in Winston-Salem.
