Men’s Tennis: No. 8 Virginia wins 4-2 at Florida State

The No. 8 Virginia men’s tennis team (16-5, 9-0 ACC) opened the weekend with a 4-2 victory at No. 33 Florida State (13-8, 9-4 ACC) on Friday at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Cavaliers dropped the doubles point but picked up four singles victories to win the match. Sophomore Chris Rodesch clinched the victory with a three-set victory on court two.
Florida State dominated the doubles point winning 6-2 on court two and 6-0 on court three to take a 1-0 lead.
The Cavaliers rebounded in singles with seniors Gianni Ross and Ryan Goetz picking up quick straight-set victories on courts six and four to put UVA ahead 2-1. The Seminoles tied the match with a straight-set win on court five. Sophomore Iñaki Montes gave Virginia a 3-2 edge with a 6-4, 6-2 victory on the top court. Rodesch closed things out with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win against Andreja Petrovic.
