Virginia recruiting target Milan Momcilovic said Thursday that he plans to announce his commitment prior to the upcoming Peach Jam event (July 17-24) in North Augusta, South Carolina.

Momcilovic, a 6-foot-8 standout from Pewaukee, Wisc., is the top player in his state, and has trimmed his final list of schools to six: Virginia, UCLA, Michigan State, Minnesota, Louisville and Iowa State.

A member of Team Herro on the EYBL circuit, Momcilovic said that coaches have told him that his game resembles Dirk Nowitzki, but that he is trying to pattern himself more toward Jayson Tatum and Devin Booker.

Momcilovic visited UVA last month.

“Tony Bennett is an all-time great coach and Virginia is an all-time great program,” Momcilovic (recruiting class of 2023) told On3. “Going there will be very cool. Leon Bond (one of UVA’s 2022 signees) is from my area in Wisconsin and he [signed there]. He has been talking it up, so that would be cool.”

Another Cavalier player, rising junior Reece Beekman, is originally from the Milwaukee area and was at the same school with Bond at one time before Beekman’s family moved to Baton Rouge, La.

Momcilovic also told On3 that he is looking for a relationship with the coaching staff, the head coach and the strength coach.

“That is obviously going to be big for me, getting stronger,” Momcilovic said. “The player development is important, so I can keep taking my game to the next level. Lastly, just winning … a program that wins at all costs and I can contribute right away.”
