Apparently Notre Dame defensive tackle Armel Mukam, a former 4-star from Woodberry Forest, is visiting Virginia today.

A photo of Mukam’s mother posing in Scott Stadium appeared on the player’s Instagram account Thursday, suggesting the visit.

Mukam, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound lineman, entered the transfer portal after not receiving much playing time for the Irish the past two seasons when he was stuck behind outstanding performers Gabriel Rubio, Jared Dawson and Jason Onye. However, with those players now gone, Notre Dame was expecting Mukam to be an impact player for the Irish next season.

He appeared in nine games this past season and played 69 snaps as a redshirt sophomore (he has two more years of eligibility remaining), and recorded 11 tackles, 7 pressures and a forced fumble.

A native of Canada, Mukum was a standout at Woodberry Forest, a private school just north of Charlottesville, and was heavily recruited by UVA, Cal, Stanford and Virginia Tech. He was ranked among 247Sports’ Top 200 prospects in the country in the 2023 recruiting class and committed to Stanford, but flipped his commitment to Notre Dame without even visiting South Bend during the process.
